Changing "Output To" directory of multiple render queue items changes filename

Trying to change multiple Render Queue items Output file path sometimes changes all the other output file names to something like _.mp4 or _.mov (erasing all the comp names in the file name).

You either have to rename all the output files manually (not practical for large batch renders). I've noticed that deleting all the Queued items after setting the directory, and then re-queueing serves as a work around.
