Dynamic link between premiere and after effects audio issue

Using after effects to add graphics to a premiere project. 
When I make any change to the timeliine in premiere, I lose the audio from the sequence in after effects. Only solution so far is to quit after effects every time and restart it... Way too time consuming.

What's the exact version of After Effects and Premiere Pro you're using? Are you on macOS or Windows?

To start, try clearing the preferences and media cache in After Effects.
