Mask acting weird (turn black and inverting image)

Community Beginner ,

I'm trying to refine a mask on a difficult footage, but now the mask is having a weird behaviour while working on it. Suddenly some keyframes of the mask turned black, while others flips the image. I tried modifying the keyframe a little bit by moving mask point one pixel and then it "updates" and "refresh", but then other keyframes started to do the same.

Working on latest After Effects, under:

Hi @lumpandro,

Thanks for the post. Have you tried disabling hardware acceleration? What happens? Have you purged cache? Have you tried resetting preferences? Let the community know. i hope we can help you shortly. Sorry for the hassle.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi @Kevin-Monahan really appreciate your reply. I purged cache, change to mercury software only and disable hardware accelaration, definitely improved, but I tried to use rotobrush again (first time didn't gave me the results I wanted to, that's why i changed to using masks instead) and when freezing, same problem appears (attached video) rotobrush glitch example

Update - I tried also converting my footage with HandBreak, and tried it rotobrushing with the "new" footage... still the same. When freezing, everything seems normal, when looking at the compositing and render, it all glitches out... 😕

I've had the same issue with inverted images, black frames, and  for the past week or so. Usually, clearing the media cache or restarting after effects (in safemode after resseting preferences) would help minimize glitches and visual artificats, but it's currently unberable. The framerate of the video file match the composition, and exporting the footage doesn't remove the glitches.

Hi lumpandro and Dorn27805949mf0a,

What version of After Effects are you using? Do you mind sharing the project and media file for testing on our end? We're investigating a similar issue so it'll help us to understand if this issue falls under the same umbrella.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,
Nishu

Hello Nishu,

Unfourtunatly I am unable to share the project file I was using, but it was in After Effects 25.3.

I've downgraded After Effects to 25.2.2 since my comment, which seems to have resolved most of the issues I was experiencing.
