Red color Play head doesn't move while playing

Red color Play head doesn't move while playing. Preview works, audio works but only play head head doesnt move. Its hard to work and so frustrating. Its been so many years its not fixed yet!!!!

I'm seeing the red Time Needle move during playback on mutiple machines in many versions of After Effects. Can you please give some more info about your setup?

1. What exact version of AE are you running (not just the year, but the version number from the "About After Effects" menu)?
2. What OS are you running?
3. What GPU and driver do you have?
4. If you start with fresh preferences, or start in Safe Mode (which temporarily resets your preferences), does this change anything?
   
   To run in Safe Mode, hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Win) or Cmd + Opt + Shift (macOS) while starting AE.
