Slow save 2025

Been using AE since it was in BETA!  I don't have H.264 videos I have many ProRes 4444 files.. my project file is over 600MB, as it normally is with heavy VFX work, but in v2024 it saved in seconds, but 2025, it's bogged down to a joke.. it's literally like the computer freezes and eventually unlocks and finishes saving.. This makes the auto save every 15min a hellscape because right as youre working, the thing stops randomly to save and you lose your train of thought as to where you were because you wait so long for it to save!!!  This is a JOKE!!  what did you guys do to screw up such a basic operation ?? When will there be a fix.. this is an ADOBE issue straight up. EVERYONE is having the same issue.

It's not an importing issue for me. it's nothing but saving.

OS = Seqouia 15.1.1

basic steps??? use the program

expected result? a normal quick save, less than 15 seconds

actual result? takes 2 minutesor more..

Why is this valuable to me? because time is money!!!

Sorry you're having issues. I haven't heard of others reporting Save being slow, so if you know of others, please have them post to this forum as well. 

As to how to help... are you able to share the project with us so we can take a look?

I'm sorry what??? you haven't heard of this issue?? hahah come on! seriously?? do a search in your own forums for AE SLOW SAVE.. and read them all.. it's absurd that you would say such a thing.. my project?? i'm working on a HOLLYWOOD TV show.. you can't have any of the files.. Wait don't tell me.. because you can't have my file, then you can't help me?? More bureaucratic red tape. I think DOGE needs to do a little investigation into Adobe.

It's a lot harder to help if we don't have something to reproduce with. But if you can't share, we'll try to reproduce it and see what's going on.

Your system "freezes" such that you are unable to switch applications or interact with it in any fashion whatsover? If not, there is a simple debugging step you could perform for us that might be very helpful in resolving your issue (but we know, time is money).

Are you saving your projects locally or across a network? If the latter, does the same issue happen if you save locally?

Does this slowdown happen with every .AEP you are trying to save, or are some worse than others? If the latter, are there any unique characteristics of those slow projects?

Does the slowdown happen immediately in a fresh AE session, with a fresh open of a problematic project, or does it only occurr after working in AE for some time?

Does this issue happen if you use the plugin manager to disable 3rd party effects? If you are running 3rd party scripts and/or extensions, does this issue occur if you disable them? 

Telling us how obvious and ubitquitous this issue is, or how much we screwed up, won't somehow psychically empower us to solve your specific problem. And without the basic details necessary to understand the detailed confguration of you system, the steps you are taking in your workflow, and the nature of the projects you are trying to save, we really can't really do much proceed here.
