Solids Folder Name preference can't be changed

I received a project recently where the original author apparently had changed the Solids folder to "1 COMPS".
Now, no matter what I try, everytime I create a new project, and add a solid, the default folder is called "1 COMPS" although I've designated it in the preferences as "Solids".
I've already tried resetting prefs on AE restart : no luck.

Hi @VFXbear,

Check in Preferences > New Project. There are two settings that may be introducing this behavior:

  • The New Project Solids Folder setting can explicitly change this.
  • The New Project Loads Template option could be loading a project in which the solids folder name has been changed.

Checked that section first, which is where changing the default name to "Solids" didn't yield any result, and also the load template is (always) unchecked.
I restarted AE and this time resetting the prefs (cmd-option-shift) DID solve the problem. No idea why it didn't do it the first time round.

OK, that's weird, but glad you got it fixed. I suspect something got stuck in the prefs file and you've jiggled it loose.

There's an older thread similar to this where someone was opening or importing an After Effects project where the Solids folder had been named "Salads".  It was kind of funny, but maybe not so much if you can't figure out how to avoid it.
