I am experiencing significant performance issues when using text layers in After Effects 2024 compared to the 2023 version. Specifically, compositions containing multiple lines of text (around 30 lines) are causing severe slowdowns, whereas the 2023 version handles even 50 lines of text smoothly.

System Specifications:

• Laptop: Katana GF66
• Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
• RAM: [Specify Amount]
• OS: [ windows 11 OS Version]

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Create a new composition in After Effects 2024.
2. Add a text layer with 30+ lines of text.
3. Notice the significant slowdown in performance.

Comparison: Performing the same steps in After Effects 2023 results in smooth performance, even with 50+ lines of text.

Request: Please investigate this issue and provide a solution or workaround. It is crucial for maintaining productivity in text-heavy projects.

i understand that 3d layers are slight smoother performance in 2024 version, but still it lacks in text performance killing the earlier versions smoothness...

Thank you for reporting this issue. Does the Text layer causing the slowdown have Faux Bold enabled?

There is a known performance issue with Faux Bold, but a fix for it is available in the latest After Effects (Beta) builds. Do you see the same performance slowdown in the latest Beta build as when using AE 2024?
