The lowercase "u" in Calibri Bold doesn't exist??

While using Premier I used "Replace with After Effects Composition" on a text layer and every lowercase "u", specifically in the Calibri Bold font, was replaced with Times New Roman when it opened in Ae. When I highlight the letter and/or the entire box of text and try to change it back to Calibri Bold manually within After Effects it does nothing. I am able to change the letter to seemingly every other font including Calibri Regular, just not Calibri Bold, it simply does nothing.

That's not ideal.

Is it happening with Calibri Bold only? Can you test with a different font? If possible, can you share a project file to test on our end? Feel free to share via DM if you do not want to share publicly.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Nishu

Yes, this is happening with Calibri Bold only, I have tested it with different fonts.

I tried to upload the project file in this reply but it says "The file type (.aep) is not supported." and I'm not sure how to send a DM. (Sorry, I'm trying to help but this is my first time posting on the Adobe community.)

Try uninstalling the font in Creative Cloud, then re-installing it. Calibri, and all my other fonts are working just fine in all Adobe apps.

Not a problem. You can click on my profile, then Message. There you should be able to attach the .aep file. Also, let us know if Rick's suggestion helps.

The font is not in my list of "Added Fonts" in Creative Cloud. When I try adding the Calibri family however, it says "cannot be added due to a confliction" because, "another font shares the same name as this one."

Yes, a lowercase "u" exists for Calibri.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with the font on your system.

Try resetting the Character panel in After Effects.  To do so, choose Window > Character, click the panel pop-up menu and the last option is Reset Character.  Create a new Text layer with the default font and a few words that use a lowercase "u" ("The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" is standard for evaluating the characters of a font), select the entire line, and then change the font from the default to Calibri Bold.

If that still doesn't show as expected, try the same text in Photoshop or Illustrator.  If that works, try selecting that text and copy and paste it to a text prompt in After Effects.

If there's still an issue, remove all instances of Calibri from your computer (be it from Adobe, Monotype, or another source), restart, and then try reinstalling the font with one font manager.

Here is an After Effects 2025 project (25.0.1) that uses Calibri Bold that you can try opening as part of your troubleshooting:  https://f.io/YNNsMjaC.

Try uninstalling the Calibri font that's installed and then activate the one from the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Let us know the outcome.
