Updates always resetting to Adobe Immersive Environment Setting as Video Preview device

Every time I update AE to its new version, the Video Preview settings are never carried over, even though I've told it to migrate my preferences from the previous version - as such AE's video previews always default back to Adobe Immersive Environement, and immediately loads SteamVR.

Changing the setting to disable the AIE obviously fixes the issue, however it just comes back again on the next software update. And it's getting quite annoying.

Is there any way the software updates can remember the video preview settings going forward? especially when I click the option to migrate my preferences over.

We will see if we can reproduce this. There is no default setting for enabling AIE, most of the AIE support has been removed, so it's interesting you're seeing this.

If you're able to install the AE Beta (from the Creative Cloud Desktop app), it'd be good to understand if you see the same behavior there.
