Hello, can someone please explain this strange behavior?

- composition 80x1080, 24 fps. 3d renderer cinema 4d / also tried to switsch

- new shape layer / fill: black

- turn into 3d layer

- rotation z

instead of just rotating the layer it gives me this strange red/yellow random looking pattern.

thank you!

First, you don't need to use the Cinema 4d render if you want to create a 3D shape layer, so use the classic 3D

second, it looks like a glitch for me, so can you show us the layer before you try to rotate it?

and finally, be sure you upgrade your GPU driver in case it's a GPU problem

as suggested, don't use the C4D renderer for such basic stuff. Other than that simply slightly offset the two layers. Such glitches happen with pretty much any 3D renderer when layers are in the same position and the clipping calculations can't determine which is in front of the other.

Hi Christoph,

Thanks for writing in.

What's the exact version of After Effects you're using? What are your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS)? Also, is this issue repeatable on a new project? It could be related to the GPU. Please make sure that your GPU driver is updated to the latest.

Let us know if it helps.

Thanks,

Nishu
