4D Cinema rendere problems with multiple layers

I hope someone can shed some light on this. I'm fairly new to AE and I'm trying to create some animated pie charts. I've extruded the base layer using the 4D cinema renderer and it looks fine. However, when I add additional layers, it gets a weird pattern/lines on it. I thought it was just an in-app rendereing issue but the problem remains even wehn it is exported via media encoder. Both apps are up to date.

This is to be expected and liek any 3D renderer behaves. Since the calculation is based on actual position in space, two objects or more precisely the faces/ polygons of an object cannot occupy the same space in a way the renderer can determine which is on top. As such you have to separate them by moving them along the Z axis ever so slightly or as you no doubt intend create actual clean chees slices for everything.
