Is it possible to cast shadows from 3D objects onto a 2D layer with the Advanced 3D Render Engine? Or set up a 3D layer to catch the shadows?

I have comp set up with some simple 3D objects and a text layer. I'm wondering if it's possible to have the 3D objects cast shadows onto the text layer? I can make the text layer 3D and it will catch shadows but it's also effected by the world lights which I don't want.

I've tried to set up a shadow catcher with a shape layer but you can't change the blending mode of a 3D layer with the Advanced 3D render engine.

I'm thinking the Advanced 3D render engine just isn't uhhh advanced enough at this point to do it but if anyone knows how that would be awesome.

You can't cast shadows on a 2D layer. The Advanced 3D renderer has limitations that you can see if you open the Composition Settings/3D Renderer tab.

If you want to cast shadows or create a shadow catcher, you will need to use the Classic 3D rendering engine.
