AE 23 splitting layers w/ track matte doesn't stack connected layer

With the new Track Matte Layers option, I seam to be missing something important: when duplicating a layer with a connected Track Matte, the new duplicate still associates to the previous layer's Track Matte Layer. I know this is a feature, but when Splitting the layer the associated layers are no longer stacked and the Track Matte Layer is separate. This is a big shift in UX. I love the Duplicate Layer w/ shared Track Matte, but when Splitting, this is a big distraction. Is there a Pref to solve this or a multiple keystroke that I'm missing?

The Track Matte layer can now be anywhere in the timeline. I'm putting mine at the bottom of the comp. When you split or duplicate a layer with any effect or track matte, the Track Matte should still be assigned to the layer.

If you don't want any effect or the animation on a duplicate or the split layer, you must delete it manually.
