I'm using a 2019 intel based MacBook Pro, 32GB, Radeon 5500M 8 GB graphics, and Monterey 12.6. I'm having numerous issues since the update. Warp stabilizer is giving problems with timelapse video clips that I used to be able to stabilize quickly. Now it's taking at least twice as long if it doesn't freeze altogether.

I reverted back to AE 26.2 and warp stabilization is working without freezing. I'm definitely having a problem with AE 23.

Hi jefbak,
Thanks for writing in.
What are the details of the footage (frame size, format/codec) you're trying to stabilize? Does it happen with a particular file or any file you try to stabilize? Also, what happens when After Effects freezes - does it continue to stabilize the footage after some time, or do you need to restart After Effects?
Moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions while we troubleshoot.
Looking forward to your response.
Thanks,
Nishu

Different problems keep warp stabilizer from working in AE23 vs AE22.6 when analyzing the same files. I import jpg sequences from drones and my first step is to warp stabilize. I'm using the same stabilize settings in both AE 22.6 and 23 now. On my first test run, both AE version were able to analyze the sequence although AE 23 was almost twice as slow. Then I tried another jpg sequence and AE 23 can't get past the Intializing step. After waiting 10 minutes I canceled the process and imported the same sequence into AE 22.6. It took about 10 seconds for the Initializing phase and the started to analyze the frames as expected.
It certainly seems like a bug from my end. I'm also not able to load mocha AE in ver 23, but I can in 22.6.
After updating to ver 23, I did have to add Full Disk permissions in security preferences before I could use the program and that always worries me when I have to do that after an update...

Hey Jefbak,
Sorry, I'm not here with answers but wanted to see if you've been able to solve this. In later September when they updated AE I also had the same issue. Except I would upload a .jpg sequence, manually stabilize, preompose, then apply a warp stabilize to smooth things out even further. Warp isn't even getting past the initialization phase, and if I'm lucky, it'll get to frame 0 of X and be stuck there. Is this still happening for you? Did you revert to an older version?
Getting desperate myself haha...
