AE quitting without warning just after starting project

Beginner in Ae here. 

I start a new project, import 1 photo. Apply roto tool, nothing crazy, minimal RAM used. moments later it crashes. it it gives me a warning sometimes about a frama rate mismatch...? clue perhaps.

I also just go this computer brand new, Macbook Air (M1, 2020)

I'm running AE 2021, freshly updated.

Try to use the latest AE2022, if you still want to use the AE2021 you can keep both versions installed on your device
and soon the next update should support the M1, you can give it a try on the beta version if you want
