AE v22.0 unable to launch on macOS Big Sur & Monterey [no third-party-plugin issue]

Hey, since I've updated to AE v22.0 the app is unable to launch and seems to be stuck ("not responding") on the splash screen. The last module loading is AE searching trough the folder "Transitions-Movement" (see image below). I already tried to reinstall the app several times and headed back to previous versions (18.0 to 18.4.1) which seem to be stuck on the same error now. After I read about the AE juice plugin causing a launch-error, I just uninstalled ALL third-party-plugins. Since this issue already occured under macOS Big Sur (11.0) after the update to AE 22.0, I upgraded my MacBook to Monterey (12.0.1), also with no result. I do not get any error message or code from AE, it simply just diplays the splash screen (I've tried to let AE load for about 2h not doing anything else).

My Macbook Specs are:

MacBook Pro (16") 2019

2,4 GHz 8-Core Inter Core i9

64 GB 2667 MHz DDR4

AMD Radeo Pro 5600M 8 GB Intel UHD GRaphics 630 1536 MB

200,56 GB (of 1 TB) available on Macintosh HD

Hi _dennis_Lat,

Sorry for the crash.

Have you tried resetting the preferences of After Effects: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-discussions/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-after...

If it doesn't helps, try changing the permissions as suggested here: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/x-productkb/multi/preferences-folder-read-only-error.html

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Nishu

Hey @nishu_kush, thanks for your reply!

unfortunatly your first idea did not work out. AE is still frozen on the splash screen.

Proceeding with your second link, I found out that there is basically no folder under this path: [drive]/Users/[user]/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects. I see folders for Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator etc. but the AE folder seems to be missing. Could this be a part of the problem?

Thanks,

Dennis
