Hey guys, I have a project file I made with AE 2023. I sent it to my creative director and when he opens it, it hangs at 95% and won’t open. I also tried to open it on my secondary computer and I have the exact same issue as him. It hangs at the "Open Project" screen at 95% and freezes and won;t proceed to open fron there. It opens and runs on my main computer that I created it with perfectly. There are no plugins used, just the script TextEvo 2, which he also has installed.

Things I’ve tried to fix it -

  • purge all memory and disk cache

  • reduce project

  • consolidate all files

  • importing the .aep into a new project and saving it out

  • exporting as both an AE 22 and AE 18 file

  • sending him just the .aep without the connected media folder for him to relink

I’ve never run in to this issue before and we both tried to troubleshoot it for an hour the other day on the phone, but we couldn’t figure out how to resolve it.

Do any of you have any troubleshooting tips?

Thanks so much!

Without exact info about the contents of the project nobody can tell you much. Simply sounds like it's referencing something that only exists on your computer, which could include a custom script panel, after all.

Hi Midnight Dogs,

We can get it checked.

Do you mind sharing the file with us to test? Feel free to DM me if you don't want to share it publicly.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Nishu

Did you run Warp Stabilizer or Rotobrush? These can bloat AEP file sizes and cause problems when system specs don't match up. How about the source footage? What kind is it? Did you use File/Dependencies/Collect files to share the project?

Any chance you can share the project, even without footage? The only time I have had something similar happen to one of my projects, I had used Rotobrush on a 10-second clip.
