After Effect doesn't show video transparency

I have a QuickTime video with transparency, but when it's imported into After Effects on my MacBook, the transparency doesn't show. Has anyone come across this? I would appreciate your feedback

Without exact info on the encoding of the file and things like footage interpretation nobody can tell you much. You need to be more precise.
