After Effects 2023 Keeps crashing and resetting

Hey Guys,

Just as the subject states, my Ae 2023 crashes and resets my laptop while the software is in use. I have been working on a wide range of projects and it continues to crash and reset my mac. Its starting to become incredibly annoying even more so during my work where I need to use Ae for my job.

My max disc Space Cashe is 93GB and I have tried Emptying Disc Cashe, I have also uninstalled and reinstalled AE. I have not used any 3rd party plugins around or during the crash either and my mac is fully up to date.

To be honest,  the problems started when I updated to the Ventura OS some weeks ago...

Equip:

Macbook pro 16inch 2019

2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9

AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 4 GB
Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4

OS: Ventura - Version 13.0.1

Storage is 600GB free / 1TB

Thanks

Hi @Kirk27492148jug4,

Thank you for reporting this issue. Has the 23.1 update helped at all with this situation?

If not, could you offer more information on when After Effects causes your laptop to reset? E.g. during preview playback or Render Queue rendering?

Since you have multiple GPUs on that system, I would recommend checking Preferences > Preview > GPU Information and ensure that the AMD is being used rather than the Intel UHD 630.

Thanks for reporting this issue and for any further

I suggest you wait for the 23.1 update due next week. Allegedly it should fix a ton of those Mac vs. Ventura issues. In the meantime feel free to use AE 2022.

I am currently using 2022 and I won't be able to update till after I finish this job I'm on.

However I'll be able to fully respond around Mid-January time.

My AE is updated to 23.1 and it freezes when I work with videos. That never happened to me before when I have other versions. I dont know if the problem is with Ventura OS or other settings.

Please  i need some help

I literally downloaded the latest AE 2023 today.  Am on MacBook Pro 2021, Ventura 13.0.1 OS.
The program keeps on crashing on the simplest of tasks (Adding Text).

It's getting to be quite relentless. I am creating very simple projects following Adobe intro tutorials.

Not sure what I can do if its breaking at such a beginners level of use.

Cheers,
Annalise

I am also getting constant shutdowns that ask if i want to save and when it happens it also logs me out of my adobe account. I have just upgraded to Ventura. my spec is 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 Radeon Pro 555 2 GB
Intel HD Graphics 630 1536 MB 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3

I tried the preview thing, turned off disc cache.

Never experienced this before upgrading to Ventura

@JohnColombo This is STILL happening on AE 2024, latest version, Macbook pro 2019, Ventura.

Just hard crashes - not just the app, but the whole machine.  Update latest AE version TODAY and it's still happening.

The only fix I've seen which (appaently) works is to NOT run After Effects on Ventura.  eg. https://www.reddit.com/r/osx/comments/10v45hr/macbook_pro_2019_16_inch_shutdown_crashes_after/
