After Effects (both 22 & 18 versions) Stuck on Splash Screen and Never Opens

Since I've updated my AE yesterday (Feb 15, 2022) to the newest 22 version, the program never opens. It'll open the splash screen, spin the rainbow wheel, and then never open. I have gone down the list of uninstalling, and reinstalling every older version up to 18.0. Still the same issue occurs.

I've also deleted my preferences upon an attempt at opening AE (Command + Opt + Shift and then hold), but no progress has been made.

It's absolutely frustrating that every time I've updated my AE, even before this issue, there was always something that went wrong.

If anyone else has more of a solution, please let me know.

Hi Rachel,

Sorry for the crash. Please share the following details:

  • What are your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS version)?
  • Are you using any third-party plug-ins?
  • What's the last loading module on the splash screen (screenshot)?

In the meantime, check out the following article and suggestions mentioned in it: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-discussions/faq-how-to-fix-common-after-effects-crashes...

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,
