After effects can't import obj file

Obj file can't be imported in after effect cc 2018, and if I import using PSD file, 3d of the object won't appear

After Effects has never provided a native/built-in feature to import OBJ files. Your workflow is to either use a 3rd party plugin such as Element 3D (Plexus, Particular & Stardust are able to use OBJ files but the output is more for a stylized 3D look). The cheapest option is to use Cinema 4D Lite, which comes bundled with AE. Import the OBJ into C4D. Then use Cineware to being the OBJ into AE.

Dear @Roland Kahlenberg - has anything changed to this workflow since 2018?  Is there anything in After Effects 2020 that makes importing .OBJ files easier than it was when you wrote this?

Nothing has changed.
C4D Lite should be the easiest and lowest-cost path to integrating OBJ objects into AE.

I just find it funny how there's nothing for artists to use the tools that they pay for to integrate what would be the two most compatible apps in their field. Is it really that much just to add an "import .obj file", or do I really have to pay another company $100 a month to get access to that?
