After Effects CC 2018 crashes every time on opening

I'm on an iMac i7 with 32GB of RAM and more than enough hard drive space on my SSD. I'm on Mac OS Sierra (10.12.6). And ever since I updated this morning, AE CC 2018 crashes as soon as I open any new file. I did a clean uninstall of the previous AE CC 2017, I even deleted preferences. Then I installed AE CC 2018, and now I can never get past this screen:

Same crash with MTLCompilerService. I should add that it actually gives me the MTLCompiler crash 4x on a single startup. The only difference after removing the plugins is that After Effects eventually starts up. But the MTLCompiler (I'm assuming) is still crashed out?

OK.... went through and manually reintroduced plugins.... apparently an old demo version of Boris Continuum 9 was causing AE to crash on startup. It no longer crashes, but I do still get four crashes of the MTLCompilerService on every launch.

AE is recognizing my video card as I checked to make sure by looking at the Preferences.

Hi DWalla,

We must have similar systems as I am getting the same MTLCompilerService crash. More annoying than crippling, but still...
I have heard that the crash goes away with an update to High Sierra, but I cannot yet confirm that. I'll see if I can get a confirmation.

I have the same problems as mentioned above(Zanzibar). I removed all third-party plug-ins, but is STILL crashing. I don't get it ,it was working yesterday.......
