Whenever my project Autosaves, it does so incredibly slowly. I've spent approximately ten minutes watching the progress bar slowly tick along before. However, if I click 'outside' of After Effects, ie, on the Taskbar, or on the desktop, so that After Effects is no longer in primary focus, then the Autosave continues through at rapid pace. I'm currently on 18.4.0 but this issue has been present for me intermittently since v16 on various different Windows machines across different projects.
It works fine on a new installation, sometimes for months, but then something happens behind the scenes and the issue just seems to appear. Just another in a long line of neverending issues with After Effects and Premiere, so my expectations are pretty low. But I thought I'd post here as a laugh so I can refer back to it in 15 years when the issue still exists and Adobe have still yet to fix it.

Where are the projects stored? Where the auto-saves? If it only happens after a while it simply sounds like fragmentation or cache issues with folders becoming full and some validation or indexing process getting in the way. Not even necessarily an AE issue.
