After Effects Crash - non compatible plugins

New Here ,
Jan 08, 2025 Jan 08, 2025

Hello everyone,

My after effects is crashing after giving me the following warning:

'The following plugins are installed, but are not compatible with this verison of after effects. They will show as missing in existing projects and cannot be applied. To use these plugins, run after effects on an intel-based Mac computer.'

The thing is, I already uninstalled these plugins (mainly red giant plugins) and i don't have them on my mac anymore.

Any advice?

Try running After Effects in Safe Mode with third-party plug-ins disabled. See if that works.

You might need to remove the residue files of the plug-ins.

Go to the following location and remove (or move to a different location to keep a backup) all the files and folders except dummy.txt and try to launch After Effects.

Location on macOS - HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plugins/7.0/MediaCore

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
Nishu

Thank you Nishu!

I was able to remove the plugins which removed the warning but unfortunetly, after effects is still crashing.
I tried reseting the preferences although i don't believe it reseting because i still have the saved keyboard shortcuts.
After it crashes and I reopen after effects i get the attached notification.
Note that i am not working with any effects.
If you could advice on what i can do, that would be great.

What happens if you click on Start in Safe Mode? Does that launch After Effects without any problem? Are there any crash reports?

Let us know.

Thanks,

Nishu

Hello Nishu,
Somehow it worked without me trying to open it in safe mode. I was using an old template in my preferences to open when i start after effects which i believe might be the reason why it was crashing. Not really certain though.
Thank you so much for your help.

Sandriane
