I had to pick up a project again that I had finished 2 months ago. I was working on v24 but now I am on v25. Every single .ae file from that project crashes on opening: previouse versions, autosave...
I have tried unistalling ae, reinstalling both 24 and 25, restarting computer, restarting with plugins disabled, clearing cache, importing in a new project... nothing works. I am on a Macbook Pro M1 Max. I tried opening a couple of the .ae files of this project on my old PC and they open just fine with no issues. I then tried to save another copy from my PC by either just saving incremental and opening a new blank project, importing the ae and saving a new file. Nothing works.
this is the report file, can anybody help me understand what could be the issue? I'm lost...https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/9h60kkt0nnoyh7tfp2pzt/8c81fe78-b639-4512-b5cc-54d65f8cbb1c.dmp?rlkey=...
Can you confirm if you're on 25.0.0 or 25.0.1? That'll help us look at the dmp file you've included.

Can you successfully start Cinema 4D 2024 on its own?

There was no Cinema 4d used in this project, and I don't have an active license on at the moment for Cinema 4d as I only buy it for when I need it. But it is installed so I am going to update the Maxon One app and Cinema4d now and see what happens. Thank you

I just removed upgarded Maxon One app, cinema 4d, redshfit, redgiant and nothing.... i restarted removed after effects reinstalled it and nothing. My friend with the same computer configuration as me, Mac M1 max, has no issue opening the file. I am completely lost.

Solved: I deleted Cinema 4d from my computer, deleted the Maxon folder in the Library preference and also deleted the Adobe after effects files from the Library preferences and now projects open fine. That was insane...

If After Effects detects that Cinema 4D is not present, it will show a warning dialog that it's missing, and not attempt to use it.
The problem is, if After Effects detects that Cinema 4D is present, it will attempt to use Cinema 4D, even if Cinema 4D's license status is currently non-functional. This will result in After Effects hanging when trying to load a project that either contains Cineware layers, or is set to use the Cinema 4D renderer.
The work-around is to completely uninstall After Effects and Cinema 4D, then re-install After Effects from Creative Cloud, making sure to select the "Install Cinema 4D" option in Creative Cloud. This will re-install both apps, and most importantly, will re-provision a Cinema 4D Lite license, which will allow Cinema 4D to function correctly when After Effects tries to use it.
