Hi, after using After Effects something that happens to me also in Premiere Pro, but less frequently, is that all my monitors suddenly go black and I'm forced to restart the computer with the reset button. I am losing a lot of unsaved work every time this happens so it is very annoying.
My rig:
OS: Windows 10
Graphics: ASUS GeForce GTX TITAN X 12GB
Motherboard: MSI X99 SLI PLUS
CPU: Intel i7 5820K 3,3 GHz 15MB + Cooler Master Nepton 140XL
RAM: Crucial 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 2133Mhz + Corsair 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 2666MHz CL15 VENGEANCE (32GB total)
Storage: Samsung SSD EVO Basic 840-Series 500GB + 3TB WD Red PRO 7200rpm 64MB
I'll say what others are likely to say, be sure to go right away and update your video card drivers to ensure they are current.
That's the likely cause - in my estimate.

That's great to hear I'm glad it was something simple.

This problem is unfortunately back and there are no newer drivers. What to do?

The cache folders had filled up my C drive so I emptied those and moved them to my big D drive and it has not happened again since I did this.

Well, round two. So, it seems the drivers were an initial fix and maybe this was a contributing factor.
Might want to adjust your max allowable size for cache and then obviously empty routinely.
