Hey! as the title says, after effects stops responding every time i open preferences/settings, or try to purge the disk cache. I've tried reinstalling several times, resetting preferences at start up, removing plug-ins, and installing earlier versions, but the same thing happens.
i've tried to manually clear my cache, but cannot find it anywhere on my macbook. The supposed location i've found online is Users/<username>/Library/Caches/Adobe/After effects, but i do not have a library folder within my user folder, and i don't have the adobe folder in the 'caches' folder within my general library. i don't recall ever moving the cache to a different location.
I barely have any space left on my macbook, as my ae cache is taking up all of it. any help is appreciated
I'm on a macbook pro 15-inch 2019, my OS is macOS Sonoma 14.4.1

The default location of the cache is in User Library (/Users/USERNAME/Library/Caches/Adobe). Open the Finder, click on Go at the top, and hold down the Option key. It'll make the Library option visible.
To fix the freezing issue, try changing the permission as instructed in the following article: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/x-productkb/multi/preferences-folder-read-only-error.html
Let us know how it goes. Moving the thread from Bugs to Discussions for troubleshooting.
Thanks,
