I used 17.7 to import a video into my timeline, then after effects crashed, In my tasks, I found that a task called ffdshow video decoder popped up, I'm assuming it is trying and decoding the video, I already tried other video files, the video files are not corrupt. I updated to v18.0 and I get the same error, any help?

Update: I fixed the problem, I'm not sure what fixed it, but I will list everything I did in order:
1. I updated to 2021, after this it still didn't work, but I tried it anyways
2. I updated my graphics drivers, this also didn't fix the problem
3. I installed GV codec, didn't fix my problem
4. uninstalled all codecs including GV and ffdshow, didn't work
5. reinstalled ffdshow, didn't work
6. uninstalled ffdshow and all other codecs, then installed K lite codec, (I'm not sure if this fixed my problem)

it turns out it's only with avi files... I've tried repairing quicktime, it didn't change anything.

after I installed K lite codec and restarted my computer, I found that After Effects wasn't crashing anymore, but I found this really cool error message that popped up every time I tried importing my video clips ( 86 :: 1 error code ), I later deleted those clips and tried new ones, these clips worked.

Basically, I'm kinda mad that I didn't get any help on this, but pretty excited that I got it fixed.
