Yes, plug-ins installed next to a given version in the Plug-ins folder are not migrated automatically due to possible compatibility issues. Plug-ins that support multiple versions are supposed to be installed in a shared location that any version of After Effects ( or Premiere ) can access:
- On macOS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore
- On Windows: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Common\Plug-ins\7.0\MediaCore
If you copy your existing plug-ins to these locations, you should not need to worry about migrating/copying them for future updates. Perhaps check with Video Co-Pilot if they expect their plug-ins to remain compatible. If so, perhaps also request that they update their installers to use the shared plug-in location to avoid this issue in the future.
