Please forgive my ignorance here, as I'm trying to get deeper into aftereffects. I have an image that essentially a textured concrete slab. I am wanting to blend this over something to add a certain grit. I want this to have a certain color light subtley overlaying as well.
I have made the image a 3D image, however when I add the light effect, the image goes black. No amount of intensity or any settings I alter affects the image. Is that normal?

Of course it's not normal, but without any system info and some screenshots nobody can tell you why this may be happening.

Select the light and the 3D image layer, press 'aa' to reveal all of the lighting and material properties, drag a selection around all of the Material Options properties on the 3D image layer, right-click and reset all options, then do the same with the Light Options.
