Animation Presets Error

New Here ,
Oct 26, 2022 Oct 26, 2022

I've recenly upgraded from After Effects 2022 to 2023 and when I apply an animation preset to text using Bridge an error appears:

After Effects error: Can't import file "Typewriter.ffx": unsported filetype or extention (0::1)

The preset does however work if applied through After Effects via: Animation - Apply Animation preset - Text effect

Does anyone know how to fix this error when appling an effect through Bridge?

It's apparently botched again like it was with the 2020 versions back then. You're not the first to report it. until there's a fix in an update it may simply be unusable, but of course check the relevant things like user permissions on folders, temp files and so on.

Same error here after most recent update.  No Animation Presets will load.

Same here.

Even with AE 23.2.0 and Bridgte 13.0.2.636 always the same error.
I know i can use these presets directly inside After Effects, but i like the preview.

It saves time.

Hi @J24811039644x @jvarro  @Bevin28193928m410 @Rolph K @EPickart

I just saw this query and want to  share the possible solution for this issue. If anyone is still facing the issue please refer and let us know the status:

Error : After Effects error: Can't import file "Typewriter.ffx": unsported filetype or extention (0::1)

Reason : After Effects not added in the start Script Preferences of Bridge

Solution :
Bridge menu > Settings > Start up Script > Enable After Effects from the list (MAC)
Edit > Preferences > Start up Script > Enable After Effects from the list (WIN)

Additional steps : Uninstalling After Effects, Bridge if you still can't see the option enabled
