Aspect ratio of 64 pixels in height makes comp go black??

URGENT!

Can anyone help. I am running the latest AE. I am making a variety of billboard size animations. One of the sizes is 960x64. I have tried changing the square pixels, started a new project, updated, clear cache. Brought in a clip aready at the same size. Yet as soon as I create a comp in AE in that size the comp goes black. The files and layers are in the timeline but the viewer is black. I can change it to 960x63 or 62 or 65 etc and all fine as soon as the height is 64 it goes black.

Was on the phone for 2hours with Adobe support who were useless and because they could not figure it out just said some aspect ratios are not possible. Yet my client sent me last years video which was made in that size of 960x64. Can anyone help? Makes no sense.

What exact version of AE are using (not just AE 2021, but the version from Help > About Adobe After Effects)?

In the latest public build, 18.4.1x4, I just created a brand new comp at 960x64 with a square pixel aspect ration and added a white solid with no problem. I recommend creating a new comp and copying your contents into it.

I have thesame version and tried all that doesn't work.

Found an answer:

Install an older version of After Effects 17.5.0.

Thanks Adobe technicial support for taking 2 hours of my time to do f&*k all and tell me that some aspect ratios were just not possible. Absolutely useless. The name of the guy I spoke to was called Harsh. Terrible service.

As always with Adobe software even though I have managed to do this in an older vesion now the lin dynamic link between AE and media encoder isn't working oh the joy!!!

Glad you found a solution. It sounds like there's a different issue happening on your machine, that would probably be better troubleshooted when you have free time.

As for Dynamic Link, it will only work with the corresponding version of AE/PR. Installing AE 17.5 should have installed an older version of AME and to avoid a conflict with the newer version you can try opening the old version of AME then queueing your comp from AE.

You are not alone JohnCarden, I'm replicating the issue with version 18.4.1 (Build 4) and effectively in 960x64 resolution it goes black with the resolution factor of the composition panel in Full or Half and not in Third or Quarter, which it tells me that it may be a hardware incompatibility problem. However, this does not happen with 960x63 or 62 or 65. Apparently we have to wait for an update of the application to see if that solves it, for the moment the best solution is that you have installed 17.5.0, but as davidarbor says, to use the Dynamic Link you must use the same versions between applications.

I solved it by disabling Hardware Acceleration from the preferences in the Display tab. You could try.

Yes Byron! it worked thank you so much.

3 hours on a phone to two different so-called AE experts from Adobe and they did nothing. You though have come up with the goods. Thank you

If Byron can reproduce the issue this easily, it definitely sounds like a bug that should be filed (with specific version number and as much detail as possible) at UserVoice: https://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/911311-after-effects
