Auto-Keyframe Icon Disappeared

Hello Everyone.

I am trying do do an animation with my Camera, and I want the Auto-Keyframe to be on, But I don't see the Icon on top of my Layers.

That feature was a terrible idea, and placing a button there where beginners could click it accidentally caused a lot of confusion and problems. So, we just moved it to a menu.

I had to reinstall all my creative clouds applications , and I Installed the fresh After Effects CC,Today.

I still don't see the Auto Key-Framing, could you tell me where is it ?

The link that I gave you contains the information:

"The Auto-keyframe button has been removed from the default state of the Timeline panel. You can enter auto-keyframe mode by choosing Enable Auto-keyframe from the Timeline panel menu."

Thanks I found It. I don't use the Auto mode.  I like to Key-frame Manually.

I just wanted to know where is it. Now I know.

That's a screenshot from Premiere Pro. This is a thread about a feature in After Effects.

I personally liked the option to clcik the auto-keyframe for simple animations like moving multiple objects or text from left to right in or out of the comp frame etc.. I would just move them to where I wanted it at different points along the timeline. Didn't have to click on the layer, hit p, click the stopwatch etc..

I can see how it would be problematic for beginners that accidentally click it, but I wish there was an option to add it permanently to the toolbar instead of clicking a menu to get to it.

I agree with Stevenimiori - The ability to auto-keyframe via a keytrigger would be a great time saving function.  And the ability to edit keyboard shortcuts without a script would be great.

Ugh...this is really annoying. I'm currently animating characters in AE and I frequently need to toggle the autokey function. This button was perfectlhy fine in AE CS6 but when switching to CC, having no convenient access to the switch has become a big drag on my workflow.

I can understand making the button visibility optional but why is the button permanently enabled when it's visible? When a user enables the option to see the button on the tool bar, isn't it a reasonable assumption that the user may want to actually use that button?

Sorry to vent but, like I said, this unnecessary change is incredibly annoying. For once, I'm actually glad we're still on CS6 at my workplace.

LittleGreenDog, I would suggest filing a feature request and explain how you would like it to operate with as much detail as possible. https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

To me it makes sense that, if you want to use it, you'd want to be able to toggle it off and on. I think having it default to not showing would still be wise (due to the number of beginner errors that were due to it before its removal).

I think it's a major oversight to remove this. Any animator in any animation package expects to see a visual cue to indicate being in Auto - key mode.  The visual cue could only help new users - I would go further and say it should be like 3dsmax and say the comp edge goes red or something. Hiding it in a menu will only exacerbate frustration.

The screen button wasn't a terrible idea. It could have been implemented better if you had taken inspiration from apps with a similar feature, like animation apps.

The button would be helpful if it changed to a bright color, for example, when engaged. The graphic of the button should change when its clicked, too, maybe with a superimposed "A" or lightning bolt.

It was not in the best location, but I admit I don't know where else you could put it, except in a palette.

Really want that keyboard shortcut, though.

I finally found that stinking menu. Putting it on a menu that's hidden in a palette was, indeed, a terrible idea. That prevents users from searching to find it AND prevents us from assigning a keyboard shortcut.
