I'm trying to render a video edit of multiple footages, however all of the footages have this "missing footage" scene after rendering out. I never had issue with rendering footages previously (e.g. mp4, mov format). Not sure is it because my footages are in AVI format?

Without any specific info we can't tell you anything - actual CoDec(s) of the AVI files, storage locations, how and where they are used in the project and so on. Also of course the usual applies: Check your hardware acceleration settings and your graphics driver. Specific GPU-based features in some CoDecs may conflict with AE's/ AME's stuff. Likewise, check the cache usage.

Again, please be specific. The error clearly seems to indicate that your source files are out of whack. You may need to convert them in an external tool.

is this how i  check the codec of the file?
i have tried converting one video with an external tool and replace the footage in AE file and that only converted video is able to export nicely. seems like i might have to make do with this method! Thanks (:

after converting this video, the codec is H264, this video works.
