Need advise on best laptop for premier pro and after effects. Have a new job and video editing etc will be part of it. ideally around the £1000 mark ($1.2k). ideally with connections to add other screens

Honestly, you have a huge range. Intel CPUs are the safer choice since I'm not sure the AMD's laptop chips are that great (I could be wrong though). Ideally something with 32GB + RAM, 10-12th gen Intel chip, and a somewhat decent GPU. Unfortunately, a system with those specs will be tough to find with a budget of $1200.
Here are some okay ones, but I recommend you look into it more, read reviews, and read articles about laptops with productivity software.

The "best" laptops are going to come in around $4,000 or more, Mac or Windows, while a very good one will come in around $2,000.
An M1 based model MacBook Air can be found for about $900 to $1,000 on sale, but you'll really want to increase the internal storage and probably want more than the base RAM which will of course bring the price up. Even if you choose a Windows laptop, more intenral storage and more RAM is something that will only help in the long run. A general rule of thumb on the Windows side, if it's good for gaming then it's probably good for After Effects.
