Camera Tracking wont pick up wall?

New Here ,
May 27, 2023 May 27, 2023

I'm trying to get tracking points on these walls but not sure why I get tracking everywhere but the emphty space I want to track. Is there a way to get tracking point in the walls or is just that the footage itself is not good for 3d tracking ?

Not in this universe. Aside from the wall being smooth as a baby's butt it also is exactly the wrong color. Grey is considered inert since it doesn't produce distinct features, neither in the shadows nor highlights. This is a classic case of where you either need to reconstruct the necessary info from the areas around the wall or use different tracking methods with manual control like using a conventional planar track e.g. witch mocha.

There is little or no perspective changes in any of the movies. Camera Pans do not give depth information. Every one of those shots would be easier to track and insert something on the flat surfaces if you use Mocha AE. There is a log of lens distortion on all of the shots and AE's camera tracker cannot produce accurate camera tracking on shots with a lot of lens distortion. I would not call any of those shots suitable for camera tracking.
