Can I create moving gradient waves in After Effects?

Hi everyone,

I'm slowly learning my way around After Effects and I was wondering if it's possible to create a gradient wave, like in the picture, but have it move and undulate. I've searched online for tutorials but I don't seem to have the right words to describe it (gradient wave, gradient filament etc).

Any pointers for finding out how to create this would be greatly appreciated!

That would be anything to do with the distortion effects like a Turbulent Displace scaled huge or any of the ripple/ wave effects.
