Can't find "Tool Creates Mask" Tool

Hello everyone -

I watched this tutorial here:

I can't find this tool mentioned even by going through every panel / workspace "Tool creates mask".

I have a layer I imported from Illustrator and converted to shapes, and now I want to create a mask on that layer. Is that possible? It looks like this "tool creates mask" button is the one I want, but I can't seem to find it in After Effects 2023.

It should be right in the toolbar. Try double-clicking the Default Workspace and selecting reset. It should appear when you select the Pen tool (g) or the Parametric Shape tool (q).
