You're looking at the layer panel. You've double clicked on the video or image in the timeline. Please click the tab that says composition to the left of where you see layer over the picture/video. Things should behave how you expect.

It looks like your type tool will not work, and it looks like you cannot scrub through the source footage in the footage panel or the comp panel.
What version of AE? What OS? Is this a new problem? Have you tried previous builds of AE? Have you tried different footage? MP4's can be very problematic. Compressed MPEG footage is not a professional or often even suitable production format.

Yes this is a new problem for me as i have used it the first time yesterday to do some camera tracking and it worked wonderfully, now for some reason it doesnt work. I have not tried previous builds (which im sure the 2021 version might work) i do not know how to change versions. I have tried diffrent footage to get the same problem. Which format do you recommend as mkv is not supported.

Hi Stefan2228580947xc,
Sorry for your issue.
What are your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS version)? Please try updating your Intel GPU driver if you have one from Intel's website. After installing, verify that the latest version is installed. Here's how: https://support.viewsonic.com/en/support/solutions/articles/33000221571-how-to-check-graphics-card-d...
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Nishu
