If the image is a raster based format (Photoshop, JPEG, PNG, TIFF), then in Adobe Photoshop use Filter > Neural Filters > Super Zoom to up-convert the image and import that into your After Effects project. I'd use the Neural Filter option to create a new document so that you can have the original image and the up-converted image.
If the image is a vector based file format (Illustrator, EPS, SVG), then enable the Continuously Rasterize Layser Switch in the Composition Timeline. It
