Collect Files trying to collect files not in project (AE 23.6.2)

I'm trying to archive a project, but when I go to "collect files", it says it will collect 656 files (that are 2.6 TB, apparently). The project only has 62 items in it. When I generate a report it is trying to collect all 57 clips in the camera "CLIPS001" directory (even though only 11 are in the project). Worse then that, it is trying to collect them all multiple times. Running the operation confirms that it is copying the clips multiple times (as well as creating whole folders out of scratch, emulating some camera card structure that is not what I have. I've attached a photo of that).

The files were copied from the camera card (C300 Mk II), maintaining the directory hierarchy. If I move the clips out of that directory, the behavior is as expected. Screen Shot 2024-06-25 at 13.56.42.png

That's not ideal. Can you reproduce this issue with a different project? Is it happening on macOS or Windows or both? Are media and project files stored on a server? Please test on the latest version of After Effects.

We're here to help. Moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions for troubleshooting.

Thanks,
Nishu

Have you tried going to file -> dependencies-> reduce file & remove unused footage ?

You may try a workaround,

import the Ae file into a new project and try collecting the files again.
