Color Range Key eyedropper turns into main cursor and is unusable

Hi everybody!

Everytime i try to use the color range eyedropper tool, it turns into the main tool leaving the segment in the effects. Does anybody has a solution to this? (see little movie i made of the problem)

I use After Effects 24.3.0 on a mac Studio M1 with Sonoma 14.4.1
