Composition layers

Hello,

I have a composition with multiple other compoitions such as the background and characters. While my character is walking, he walks over an other layer in the background composition. I want to keep my character on the front but also send it behind the other layer and I cant find how ... 

Can you please advice

I'm not very clear about what you need but you could divide the layer by going to the menu Edit / Split Layer, and then place the Layer of the part you need above or below, where you need it.
