It never happened to me before.

I'm about to finish a project and when I try to open a project file AE crashes every time.
I'm on PC windows 11
AE is updated

What I tried:
- Loading the project into the project window of a new project -> crash
- Loading the auto-saves and ALL of them crash the same way
- Tried resetting all preferences and loading in AE safe mode
- To open a completely different project - works fine

How do I fix a corrupt project? I think it started after some rotoscoping jobs, please help.

Sorry to hear about the issue.

Is there any media linked to the project? If so, change its location (so the After Effects won't be able to load it) and try to open the project. It'll help narrow down the issue. If that doesn't work, please share the project file with me to test. Feel free to DM.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Nishu

Ok so that was some great advice and the problem's half-solved.
There was no media in the project itself but there was media in the premiere pro sequences the I've imported into AE.
I've hidden the media and that didn't help so I went on to hide the entire premiere project and that solved it.
What's my next step? should I reimport the sequences into AE as if they are new media?

Ok, So solved it.
Instead of bringing the media to AE through Premiere, I've now exported the media I needed and imported it into AE.
I think the fact that I took a timeline from Premiere, inserted it into AE, and imported the AE composition back into Premiere was more than this link thing could handle.

If you think you have a more convenient solution, please share.
