I'm working on a video similar to this one where colored rectangles track an object in the footage. There is a certain jerkiness to the tracking I want to replicate, but my attempts at keyframing the shapes in my own video result in smooth tracking.

Change the keyframes to Hold keyframes. If you don't know how to do that check the Help menu or type "hold keyframes" in the Search Help field in the top right corner of AE.
