Display drawing tablet for Motion Design

New Here ,

Hi,

I'm a motion designer and I use After Effects daily. Recently I've been thinking about getting a display tablet like the XP-pen 12 pro to add to my workflow but I haven't found any reviews with how it works for AE and motion design.

I wanted to know if anyone in the community has used a drawing tablet (with a display) for motion design and could share the experience, if it's good or not and if it's worth the investment.

I have used a Wacom tablet, and it works most of the time. I also use my iPad Pro 12.9 with Astro Pad and it works almost as well but it doesn't have as many buttons to customize. I use both a trackpad and mouse also. The best tools for the project depend entirely on what is going on in the comp. Sometimes the tablet or the iPad and pencil are best, other times, it's the trackpad (Apple Magic Trackpad), and other times it is a mouse. My biggest time-saver is that I rarely need to go to a menu to find something because I have learned the most common keyboard shortcuts.
