Entering text is VERY slow and misses characters

Hi everyone!
Have an issue with the latest version of AE (v 22.6.0).  Because I'm so familiar with AE, I still use it to create supers and titles for my videos.
But entering text onto layers is now so painfully slow, I have misspelled items because I typed it, but the letters don't make it onto the layer.  I must type.... very.... very.... very.... slowly to get the entire word in.
Wanted to see if anyone has seen this or has a workaround.

I'm primarily using a 2019 Macbook Pro | 64G | 1 TB on Ventura.

Thanks.

Does it happen with a specific project/template or in any new project?

If it is happening in all projects,
Version 23 has this problem with Ventura OS.
Try the solution below, it may help:

Sorry for the delay; for some reason I didn't get a notification.  Yes, it is all projects and unfortunately, the font syncing does not appear to be the solution.  Still trying to figure this out.
