I am receiving this message. Advice would be appreciated please.
After Effects can't continue: An unexpected error has occurred and After Effects will now shutdown.
Please check you have the appropriate permissions to launch After Effects as well as read/write access to the After Effects preferences folder.
If any other error messages were displayed prior to this, please review, and resolve if possible.

Can you go to the System library (looks like you're in the user library) and check if you can find the After Effects folder? Here's the location: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/
Let me know.
Thanks,
Nishu

Looks like a permissions-related issue to me. Are you on a work computer? Can you create a new admin account and reinstall After Effects using that account?
Let me know the outcome.
Thanks,
Nishu
