Extensions don't work since 2019 After Effects update...

Hi everyone

I'm having this issue since I've updated my CC suite this morning to the 2019 version.

When I look for the extensions in the "WINDOWS> Extensions" dropdown menu in After Effects (Illustrator as well), I can see them listed, but nothing happens when I click on it.

Adittionaly, the extensions that I used to have docked in the 2018 version workspace are now completely blank.

I thought that was a common problem, but I've asked to some colleages and they have no issues with extensions in CC2019.

How can I solve this?

PS: Some of the extensions that I have: Big Pack, Handy Seamless Transitions (now "Motion Bro"), Overlord and so.

Hi goncba,

are you on Windows?

Open the Registry Editor (windows start and type regedit) and go to

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\CSXS.9

Add a new string and call it PlayerDebugMode. Set the value to 1. Restart AE.

Yes I have tried multiple times. I also have tried installing other ones and they don’t work but they did right before I updated to 16.0.

Having the same problem here. Had a number of extensions and scripts installed that worked fine in 2018 that morning, but when I updated to 2019 in the afternoon, they didn't work (or even show up) after the update. aescripts content and Mt Mograph content.

goncba--- I'd try it if I was on PC but I'm on Mac. I think I already did the equivalent though--correct me if I'm wrong.

Currently running Mac OS 10.14 and AE CC2019 (16.0.0).

After Effects is working fine without the scripts installed but as soon as they're added to the Script UI Panels folder, After Effects pretty much locks up. It launches...but can't open anything or create a new file.

The Mac OS upgrade had nothing to do with it as it was done afterward. I actually updated it thinking maybe v16.0.0 needed the Mac update to operate properly. Not the case. It also worked fine while still on the 2018 version.

I have a lot of work coming in the next few weeks. If anyone has any ideas about this, please let me know.

You can accomplish the same thing on a Mac by updating the plist files. I usually do it by running this command from the Terminal:

defaults write com.adobe.CSXS.9 PlayerDebugMode 1

To check that it updated the plist correctly, type:

defaults read com.adobe.CSXS.9

It should return an object that looks something like this:

{

    LogLevel = 1;

    PlayerDebugMode = 1;

}

Worked perfect for me in Windows 10 64bit, After Effects (Beta) 17.7.0 (Build 10). The only thing I had to do different than the instructions above state is to add the key in CSXS.10 for this version of After Effects.anks!!!
