extra frame showing in main comp but not in the precomp

I've made a precomp with some footage that I've dropped into my main comp.  In the main comp an additional frame that has been cut in the precomp appears at about 60% opacity.  When I view the precomp all is fine.  It only appears in the main comp.  If I try to cut out the extra frame from the precomp in the main comp it then glitches worse in another area again showing frames that have been cut at a lower opacity on top of the footage.  Frame rates are the same between comps.  I've cleaned my cache.  I've never encountered this before so I'm not sure how to reproduce.  What could be causing this?

I can't tell much without seeing the entire UI, the Modified properties of each comp, and the frame rate of each comp (select the comps in the Project Panel).  My first guess is that the frame rate differs in the main and nested comp.

Hey Rick,

Thanks for replying.  I already checked that as it was my first guess as well.  But they are both the same.  All settings on main comp and the precomp are exactly the same.

Does the footage's frame rate match the comp's frame rate?
